Waste recycling has become a real industry in Romania, stimulating the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and, implicitly, the development of the whole economy. Waste recycling produces alternative sources of raw materials and contributes to reducing the polluting pressure on the environment.

Effective and safe use of global environmental resources contributes to the overall quality of life on our planet, both for us and especially for the next generations. The REMATINVEST Group makes its own contribution to energy conservation and environmental protection by recycling reusable materials and reintroducing them into the industrial circuit.

Worldwide, every second tone of steel produced is made from scrap iron, with the United States accounting for just 2 tons out of 3. If we consider that over 200 million vehicles are in circulation in Europe in 12 -15 years will be phased out, being gradually replaced by new ones, we will have a much clearer image of what the recycling industry means in Europe and Romania.

Recovery of materials

Considering that natural resources are limited and at high cost, steel production from metal scrap, significantly reduces environmental pollution and promotes energy and raw materials savings. One of the advantages is that the scrap iron can be reused many times, without any major differences in the quality of the finished product. Every second tone of steel currently produced worldwide is made of scrap iron. While in case of other recyclable materials, recycling results in significant quality losses, in case of iron, high quality products are always obtained from scrap iron. It follows that iron is a 100% recyclable material. Consequently, impressive amounts of natural ore can be saved, with positive effects on energy consumption. Scrap iron as raw material is much cheaper than the one obtained from iron ore, and as an additional benefit for steelworks, the substitution of high sulfur iron ore by scrap iron with a low sulfur content, means reducing the potential of air pollution up to 86% and water pollution potential up to 76%.
Recycling of materials contributes to reducing the amount of energy used in industry, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preventing global climate change. These are mainly due to the fact that much of the energy used in industrial and transport processes involves the burning of fossil fuels, such as gasoline, diesel and coal, these being the most important sources of carbon and other pollutant emissions.
According to statistics, aluminum recycling saves 95% of the energy needed to produce new aluminum from ore. Recycling iron and steel results in a savings of 74%. Copper recycling, 85%. Paper recycling, 64%. And plastic recycling, over 80%. All of this are made from materials that otherwise would have taken the path of garbage dumps.

This is how we, REMATINVEST, make our own contribution to energy conservation and environmental protection by re-introducing reusable materials into the industrial circuit!
